“You were awesome, man.”

Mario was stunned by Grayson’s compliment. He, Grayson, and Justin had just finished a couple games of bowling. It was now nearly eight in the evening. The three of them had more than enough time to drive to the outdoor cinema to catch a movie at nine o’clock. They were all changing back into their regular shoes. Mario had sat almost at the edge of the bench because Justin was in the center. He had presumed Grayson would want to be on Justin’s other side. He didn’t expect Grayson to squeeze onto his other side instead. What was even more astounding was Grayson’s brilliant smile, which was directed at Mario.

“Uh, thanks.”

“You’re welcome.”

Mario had no idea what game Grayson was playing at, but he would have to be wary of the other man. He and Grayson both wanted Justin as their boyfriend. This was a competition, and he refused to lose. However, he couldn’t deny the beating of his heart, which grew faster and harder with every passing second, when Grayson slung one arm over his shoulders. He didn’t mind public displays of affection. He never concealed how much he adored Justin regardless of whether they were in public or otherwise, but he never thought he would get the same treatment from Grayson. The two of them were supposed to be fighting for Justin.

Mario wouldn’t have minded Grayson being all touchy-feely with him if they had been friends to begin with, but they weren’t. They were forced to hang out together because of Justin. Mario was deeply infatuated with Justin, and he yearned to make love to the man someday soon. He did his best to ignore the weird lustful feelings he had toward Grayson. Not only did he crave for Grayson in a sexual manner, he also wanted to be close to the man in ways that weren’t sexual at all, and that was frightening to him. He hadn’t thought it would be possible for him to have feelings for more than one man at the same time, but here he was in exactly that kind of situation. He bit back a sigh and led the way toward the car.

Several minutes later, he was navigating his car into the outdoor cinema after showing their tickets to the usher. He had purchased the tickets online. All he had to do was to show the proof of payment via the screen of his smartphone. He was about to offer to purchase some dinner, snacks, and drinks for all three of them when Grayson beat him to it. While waiting for Grayson to return to the car, Mario chatted with Justin about what occurred at work earlier that day. There was nothing exciting, but he enjoyed sharing things with Justin, who was an amazing listener. He felt somewhat lighter at the end of the conversation. What astonished him was his lack of intense jealousy when he heard about how Justin and Grayson had spent several hours together throughout the late morning all the way into the afternoon.
